What I hate about writing is having to negotiate an appropriate tone of voice. I think it’s appealing to write in such a way that someone who knows you personally could read your words and realistically imagine you speaking them out loud, without the delivery having to sound unnatural or forced. Unfortunately, it is in fact natural to write and speak in different tones.
My written voice, for example, is far too austere, in my opinion. I’m really a pretty silly guy. =)

It’s tough, I agree, though your writing style is good at capturing your intellectualism at least. I read through my Xanga and some of my older posts in particularly are rather clunky.
